days 4 and 5: thurs and fri
in the last two days, we’ve been recording quite a bit, and have completed (or so we think), 4 songs: ‘escapism is fantasy’, ‘small are the words’, ‘regarding present fears’ (formerly called ‘hope’), and ‘rainfall’. these have not been easy, but i think they’ve turned out very well. anyway, that brings the total up to 7 songs done, leaving 6 to be completed (or, 7, if we record a secret track of some kind).
we have, i think, got the process down to a kind of science now. the time it takes to transition between recording different instruments has become steadily less, and the process of mixing a song steadily more natural. with the help of mixerboy, equipment and levels are set in a flash.
luckily, (or perhaps unluckily for you), there has been no real drama to speak of. things are going very well, and tomorrow we are planning on recording ‘a veiled hope’.
in other news, i’ve been spending most of my time trying to get a new wireless network hub we bought to work in the house. it seems they didn’t intend for you to use it if you wanted to retain an already-existing dsl router and wired network. but 3 hours on the phone with technical support today seems to have done the trick, and i’m writing and posting (or could be) from a hammock out on the patio.
but now it is time for my mom’s birthday dinner, and focaccia bread with olive oil and vinegar calls my name!
