post-performance euphoria

my show was awesome. i played better than i ever have before in a show, and it felt so good to give what i thought was an accurate representation of my art to the people who were there. and there weren’t many of them, by any means–i think it was the least well-attended of any of my shows, as well as the least well-attended show of the evening. in talking this over with dan, we decided that it was because i didn’t start till 11pm (people at stanford don’t understand the whole theory behind headlining and night shows and what have you).

here was the set list:
1. solitary spaces
2. affectionately yours
3. almost there [pedro the lion cover, with special modifications…also the theme song behind this blog. so in some ways it was a little disheartening that no one who reads this blog regularly was at the show tonight. or if he/she was, it’s slipped my mind.]
4. i win again
5. a pixellated life
6. a veiled hope
7. the tension of grey

i was able to set a mic up and minidisc the entire show, and since there weren’t a lot of people there i didn’t get too much crowd noise. i’ll make mp3s of the songs soon, and make them available for download. that way if you missed the show you can still hear how it sounded!

after the show dan and i went out to the quad for a nice little hangout time. we smoked our pipes and talked about music and girls. well mostly i talked and rambled on to infinity about this, that, and the other, and he interjected with helpful comments now and then. all in all, a relaxing night. and of course we brought IBCs. so smooth and refreshing.

sadly, what with practicing for the show, going to a veritas lecture (veritas is a lecture series at stanford every other year on truth, from a christian perspective. i heard dallas willard speak today on science and religion. he’s quite a solid philosopher. i was impressed), and whatever else, i didn’t get a smidgeon of work done. sad yet true. soon the bell will toll for me, i can hear it already.

but what i hear right now is the relaxing sound of falling water that is the shower, calling my name. it being 2:30am, i am OUT.

disc on spin: none
