i wish i had control

the pedro the lion show, at slim’s in SF, was incredible. david played all the songs off the upcoming release control, in song order. i liked each of the 10 songs so much, and completely rocked out to at least half of them.

david was in top form….as witty as i’ve ever seen him. as humble, as endearing, as huggable (yes, someone asked him for a hug and he hopped down from the stage and gave the guy a hug after the show), as independent, as worshipful, as cussword-happy as ever.

he usually asks “are there any questions?” in between songs, to make sure the audience feels involved. although, he did say that he told himself that after control came out, he would cease this habit. because of that, i screwed up my nerve and asked him the last question of the night. (i asked him why he changed the lyrics to rapture [millionaire] and second best) so, if pedro follows through with his resolve not to do any more question-answering after 4.16, there’s a good chance that i will have been the last person who asked him a question like that in a show.

that was yesterday.

today was a challenge. morning classes after a pedro show are not a good idea, so i skipped two of them. then i worked some more on my new song (i’ve changed the lyrics and music substantially since the last entry), and went to the wall for an hour, since i won’t be able to climb again until tuesday probably.

emily and i had another long and heart rending discussion. hopefully the last. no gory details for your hungry little ears, but the upshot is that we thought about breaking up (kinda), but in the end decided to ask each other out again. however, this was quite a long process (4-5 hours), so i’m emotionally and physically drained. seems to be a common theme these days.

also, i had lots cool and interesting things to put in my blog, but forgot them all.

in other news, i am thinking of making jonathan lipps t-shirts. soon i’ll be making a sort of fake pre-order page where you can see the design and tell me if it’d be worth buying. then i can decide whether they’d be worth making. stay tuned.

in other rather important news, i think i’ll be changing internet hosting servers here, so there may be a day or two where jonathanlipps.com is down. if you find that it is, you can access this site directly by going to http://www.stanford.edu/~jon832/almostthere/ . that way you won’t lose any bloggy goodness. or suckiness.

we had one vote for a cover song, which in fact i think i will not do. in fact i don’t think i’m going to do any of the ones i listed. if you want to hear what i am going to do…you’ll have to come to the show. 11:00pm at the coffee house! please come!

now i’m off to grove to watch a movie with some people. i was originally planning on going to sleep, but decided that human interaction might make me a better person. fitter, happier, even.

summary: gamma level overload. beta level deficiency. delta levels good. omega level clear.
